MEME is a collaboration between University of Nottingham Malaysia and Department of Wildlife and National Parks of Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN). It was founded in year 2011 by Dr Ahimsa Campos-Arceiz who has been the principal investigator of MEME since then.
MEME’s general aim is to develop an evidence-based approach to the conservation of Asian elephants in Peninsular Malaysia. Our specific objectives are to:
Conduct useful research for elephant conservation
Build local capacity in conservation science and practice
Inform local authorities on conservation issues
Create public awareness and interest for elephant conservation in Malaysia
