Dr. Joshua Yap specializes in applying biology and biotechnology to address global challenges in genetic conservation (plants in particular), food security, microbial fuel cells, and wastewater treatment. His research reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and innovative solutions for environmental and societal needs.
With a PhD in Botany and Biotechnology (2003), Dr. Yap has built an exceptional academic career spanning more than two decades. His dedication to teaching earned him the title of Senior University Teaching Fellow in 2015 and the prestigious Lord Dearing Award in 2021, recognizing his outstanding contributions to higher education.
Beyond research and teaching, Dr. Yap is passionate about inspiring future generations. He actively conducts seminars, workshops, and motivational talks to guide students in making informed decisions about their education and careers. His outreach efforts have reached diverse audiences across India, Bangladesh, UAE, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brunei, China, and Malaysia, promoting awareness of science, biodiversity, and sustainability.
